What is the difference between 100% schedular and 100% P&T?
A 100% schedular rating means your combined disability math reaches 100%. "P&T" (Permanent and Total) means the VA has also determined your conditions are not expected to improve. P&T unlocks additional benefits including CHAMPVA eligibility for dependents and protection from routine re-examinations. TDIU can also be designated P&T without a 100% schedular rating.
Does my spouse get benefits if I'm 100% P&T?
Yes — your spouse and dependent children under 23 (or in school up to 23) qualify for CHAMPVA (free health insurance). Your spouse adds $219.59/month to your compensation. If you pass away, your surviving spouse may qualify for DIC ($1,699.36/month) and CHAMPVA continuation.
Can I work if I'm rated 100% schedular (not TDIU)?
Yes — a 100% schedular rating has no employment restriction. Only TDIU recipients need to limit work to "marginal employment." If you're 100% schedular, you can work full-time without any impact on your compensation.
